Your initial thinking was limited and restricted because it was an assimilation of your family's principles and code of conduct: there was limited originality or freedom of thought. Consequently, some people spend their entire lives repeating and transferring to their children the same values and beliefs that they adopted from their parents, and they are adamant that their earliest imposed and uninvestigated thoughts are right and that anything that contradicts these is wrong. Such rigid attitudes and behaviours can result in negative judgements, intolerance, and violence. Collectively, an extreme attachment to a particular set of ideologies and doctrines is the cause of war, poverty, the destruction of nature, and poor physical and mental health.
